“When Lehi started reading the brass plates, one thing he was excited to learn was that he was a descendant of Joseph. You know, Joseph of Egypt, the one who also left his home and family and went through a bunch of hard things, all so he would be able to save his family from famine.
It must’ve been inspiring to Lehi, a guy who left his home so that he could also save his family. Nephi notes that it was the same God who helped both Joseph and Lehi.
Now I can’t stop thinking about that same God”
My little sister recently wrote those words. And now I can’t stop thinking about Him either. That same God shows up over and over through scripture, in the Bible and the Book of Mormon. It’s powerful to me to notice take note of those times.
Can you also see His hand in the world around you now?
That same God that brought my husband safely home through late nights and icy roads? He continues to bring him home safe to me each night.
That same God who calmed us all after Jared was stung by a bullet ant in the middle of the night soon after we arrived in Ecuador? He gives us courage despite the pain and fear that finds us still.
That same God who watched over me and my babies at all their births? And continues to comfort me after a miscarriage? He knows me and where I am and gives me strength, especially in my motherhood.
That same God who shows up again and again and again, in my own story. In my ancestors stories. In your stories. He sees me. And He knows you.
That Same God.
Here’s a song that also keeps coming to my mind. I hope you enjoy.
